One item that can be easily taken off your mind is the condition of the house that you are buying. Did you know that the ‘valuation’ undertaken on behalf of your mortgage lender is simply a quick inspection to make sure that their money is safe to lend to you? It is not a survey at all, it is actually not done for you even though you pay for it and you receive a copy of the ‘report’, and you should not rely on it for any kind of detailed information or advice. If you are not obtaining a mortgage then it is even more important that you have a survey.
