Home Office Immigration Surveys
If you live in rented accommodation and are wishing to bring a non-UK resident to live with you, you may have been asked by the Home Office or UK Immigration Services to provide a building survey on the size, condition and nature of where intend to live.
They will usually also want a basic floor plan with the room sizes indicated so that they can assess whether you have sufficient space available.
Your Building Condition Survey will include an assessment of the following:
- Floor plan
- Heating
- Electrical installation
- Washing facilities and sanitary conveniences
- Facilities for the storage, preparation and cooking of food
- Means of escape from fie and other appropriate fire precautions
- Room sizes
- Wall structure
- Structural integrity of the building
- Roof structure and covering, including chimneys if any
- Doors and windows
- Floors and internal staircases
- Damp proofing
- Condensation
- Thermal insulation
- Other factors that may be relevant to the accommodation
